Baby’s first “stilettos”
My brother just sent this to me, and since I hadn’t seen it, it’s clear that I’ve missed the latest baby fashionista headlines. These adorable and hilarious shoes, aptly named “heelarious,” were designed by two young moms who thought it would be funny to create “first high heels” for tinies.
The rest of the fashion world totally agrees, and the 6 styles of footwear for diaper-wearing divas have been widely featured in the press, recently.
I must confess to initial concerns about safety until I read that the “heels” of the shoes are collapsible. In fact, the shoes are labeled as “soft crib shoes,” and are intended only for children 0 to 6 months of age. That seems to present a pretty safe margin of pre-toddling safety.
Available in slinky black and pink satin, black and pink patent, and two types of jungle prints, the heelarious high heels are sold in an SATC-worthy “rhinestone” clasped purse. They can be found at some retailers, several online stores such as Zappos ($41, including shipping), and at the heelarious site itself ($35, plus $10 shipping).
