I just couldn’t resist posting this image. She’s Missy, and she’s a sweet, silky, and squeaky 3-year-old little cutie that we just adopted from the Westchester SPCA.

Originally, when I went into the kitchen, I’d been planning to photograph the floral centerpiece in the foreground. The flowers had been from my friend, Alice’s, birthday party. I thought the centerpiece was a great example of two key colors that are beautifully and dramatically arranged. If you’re familiar with Celebrate with Style, you know that simple and beautiful flower arrangements are among our favorite types of flower and décor features.

However, as I walked into the kitchen, I saw our little furry perched on the placemat. And it occurred to me that Missy also is an example of two key colors beautifully and dramatically arranged.

So, I now think of the photo as honoring two celebrations: Welcome to our family, Missy! And thank you, Alice and Bruce, for having such a gorgeous birthday party and for this pretty and colorful memento!
